David A. Pickler
David began his career in the investment business over 30 years ago. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management degree in 1980 and from Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, University of Memphis, with Juris Doctor Degree in 1985. He was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1986 and maintains an active practice emphasizing Tax and Estate Planning. In 2000, David joined a select group of attorneys admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and is considered one of the leading estate planning advisors in the nation.
David and his wife, Beth, have two children: Chris and Katie. Chris is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, and is the Camera Security Director for the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Katie graduated from MTSU and is the Development Coordinator for the West Tennessee Chapter of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
David Pickler has built his personal and professional life on the principles of community service, civic leadership, and philanthropic investment. Beth and David began their community involvement with PTA in their children’s schools. David was elected to Shelby County School Board of Education in 1998 and served as chairman for twelve years. He was the top 2009 Tennessee School Boards Association President and remains a member of the TSBA Executive Board. David was elected as Southern Region Director for the National School Boards Association in July 2008. In April 2013, David became the President of the National School Boards Association. He was the second Tennessean to serve as NSBA President and the first in over 60 years. He has twice been honored as Tennessee School Board Member of the Year. In July 2012, David was honored by the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences as a recipient of the Educators Voice Award, and in September of 2013 he received the prestigious Bammy Award as School Board member of the Year.
Melissa T. House, C.P.A.
Melissa and David formed Pickler Accounting Advisors, PLLC in January 2012. Melissa has over 30 years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant, primarily in the tax field. A native Memphian, she graduated from the Hutchison School and then from the University of Mississippi, obtaining a B.B.A. degree with a major in Banking and Finance. She continued her study in Accounting at the University of Memphis, obtained her C.P.A. certificate in 1985, and began her career in the tax department of Touche Ross & Company, which at that time was one of the “Big 8” accounting firms. Being hired by one of her clients, she worked in the private sector for 4 years, managing their accounting and tax compliance function. In 1991, she went back into the public accounting field with a local C.P.A. firm, specializing in tax, where she worked for more than 21 years.
Melissa has two children, Patrick and Megan, who are both graduates of Houston High School. Patrick is also a graduate of the University of Memphis and works as a Category Manager at FedEx. After graduating from the University of Tennessee at Martin, Megan continued her studies at Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, University of Memphis. She currently practices family and criminal law at Douglas and Runger in Memphis. Melissa's sweet son-in-law Andy works for Frontdoor, Inc.
Melissa is an active member of Hope Presbyterian Church where she teaches Sunday School in the pre-school department. She is a graduate of Leadership Collierville and served on the Board as Treasurer. An avid sports fan, she can often be found at various sporting events in Oxford, MS. She also enjoys working out and walking her rescue dog, Sophie.
Melissa is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Jane Stoner, C.P.A.
Jane joined our team in February of 2018 and serves as Staff Accountant. She specializes in QuickBooks and assists Melissa with tax preparation and planning for our growing roster of clients.
Jane grew up in Wynne, Arkansas and attended Arkansas State University, graduating Cum Laude in 1984. The following year, she passed her CPA exam and began her career as an accountant, working for local CPA firms in Memphis.
After starting a family, she created a financial consulting business so that she could stay home and raise her three boys. Jake, her oldest son, is a graduate of the University of Memphis and plans on attending law school this fall. Her middle son, Will, graduated from Mississippi State University and lives in Nashville where he works in sales. Jane’s youngest son, Sam, is currently attending the University of Alabama where he is studying Economics and Political Science.
When she’s not working, Jane enjoys spending time with her granddaughter Maycie. She has two rescue dogs, Sadie and CK, and likes cheering on the Crimson Tide. Jane has been happily married to her husband Joey for 35 years.
Becky joined Pickler Accounting Advisors in 2012 as Office Manager. She recently moved back to Memphis from Atlanta after relocating in 1977. In Atlanta, Becky attended Dekalb Technical College where she studied Practical Nursing and was employed by a Urology practice for 26 years. At the practice, she served as Practice Manager and is also certified in Medical Coding and Compliance.
Currently living in Collierville, Becky has been married to her husband Rodney for 35 years. They have one son, Travis, a daughter in law named Dru, and four grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Logan, Gavin and Caroline. Becky loves to vacation at the beach with her family. She is a fan of yard work but mostly loves to be around her family and her dogs.
Becky is a passionate animal advocate. She is a member of Atlanta area rescue groups and was very involved in volunteering for them while living there. She has 2 rescue dogs and previously fostered dogs for two groups.
