This tax season, we're shining a light on all of the hardworking individuals who make up Pickler Accounting Advisors. Next on the list is our newest team member, Sherry Ligon.

Staff Accountant (Collierville, TN)
Sherry joined the firm in August of 2022 as Staff Accountant. In this role, she serves as bookkeeper for small businesses. Her duties entail reconciliation of monthly statements, managing customer accounts, and handling bill payments and payroll. Also, during tax season, Sherry assists with tax-data input.
A graduate of University of Tennessee at Martin, Sherry obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Home Economics. She has experience in Retail and HR Management and has worked in different industries including apparel, marketing, and trucking.
When she’s not crunching numbers, Sherry enjoys church activities and traveling between Wisconsin, Missouri, and Tennessee to spoil her three grandbabies.

How do you define success?
"Faith, family, friends and being at peace with these."
What is one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned in your career?
"Accountability! When I own up to the mistakes I make, then co-workers, clients, friends, family are more willing to help me fall forward to success."
Where did you go to college?
"I received my AA from Freed-Hardeman College; BS in Home Economics/Business from University of TN at Martin."
What’s your favorite thing to do to relax after a stressful work week?
"I am loving being a Gra’ma! As the preacher said, Covid was very good to my family as we had 3 grandchildren born in 2022. So, Saturday mornings are spent facetiming the granddaughter, Charlotte & son in St Louis and grandson, Bodhi and son in Milwaukee. Then, the rest of the week/weekend, time is spent enjoying grandson JD who lives in Oakland TN."
Do you have any pets?
"Amazingly, I have inherited a calico cat, named Pip. When raising 5 children, we have always had a menagerie of stray animals in the house along with stray children! When my daughter married and moved to Oakland, she took her dogs and left me with Pip, the indoors/outdoors cat. And she and I have come to an understanding…….I understand she gets her way!"
What’s your favorite way to celebrate a job well done?
"It seems like all my work has been team-oriented in my career and what better way than to celebrate the contribution each team member has made toward reaching the goal."
Lastly, what historical figure would you like to meet?
"Abraham Lincoln – After living in IL (for more years than I want to admit), I have come to admire his life as a self-taught man who became the President that led our country through the hardest time as brother fought brother and we became a better nation for it."
